Vidyaranyapura, A ward in the Byatarayanapura Assembly constituency is situated in the north-west part of Greater Bangalore and is said to be named after the great Kannada poet, Vidyaranya. It is said that the area was formerly owned by a rich landlord, who still owns the Dinshaw Estate, a large Mango garden in the locality.
A highly residential area, it is located near large government organizations like BEL, HMT etc, whose employees were granted concessional rates while purchasing the land in this area.
Local attractions include GKVK Campus, Durga Parameshwari Temple, the Suvarna Jubile Park and the two lakes in the area.
